A Trusted Partnership, Built Over Time
The latest expansion at Midway Storage in Calvin, West Virginia, began the way many of their past projects have—with a clear plan and a familiar partnership between owner Mark Church and the BETCO team, spearheaded by the team's Brandon Maurer. Mark, who started with a single 30×60 BETCO building back in 2007, has steadily grown his business to more than 250 units, adding each phase with BETCO’s guidance. This newest project aimed to take a challenging site from concept to rentable units within six months.
That meant starting with all the groundwork: completing the loan package, handling demolition and cleanup, correcting drainage and slope issues, placing fill, and building a strong sub‑subgrade before the concrete slabs could even be poured. Each step moved the project toward its ambitious timeline—loan approval by March 1, slab completion by June 1, and the buildings finished by July 1.
But May delivered its own complications. Several heavy rainy days rolled through, totaling nearly 8 inches of rainfall for the month. The downpours slowed grading and slab preparation, making each day of progress harder to secure. Still, the team adjusted schedules, adapted where needed, and continued pushing the project forward.
A Smooth Opening and a Strong Outcome
Despite the weather setbacks, the expansion opened in the second week of July 2025—still impressively close to the original target. New units were ready for tenants quickly, marking another successful milestone in Midway Storage's long line of steady growth.
And for Mark, the experience reinforced the trust built over nearly two decades:
“I am a small operator that started out with a 30×60 BETCO Building. I now have over 250 units, and BETCO has been there for each and every one...I don’t see myself ever choosing anyone else.”
