Metal
roofing is becoming more and more popular these days for
a number of good reasons:
Aesthetically,
it is attractive and can be colorful, it is strong, sturdy
and secure, it can lower attic temperatures better than
any other material, it is lightweight, and it is 100%
recyclable.
For
these reasons, BETCO has recently targeted the roofing
market for its Components Division with a direct mail
test campaign designed to reach roofing contractors within
proximity of the Statesville plant.
"Since
most of our customers traditionally come from within a
50 - 75 mile radius, a direct mail campaign makes sense",
remarked Tim Feimster, head of the Components Division.
"They will drive directly to our plant to pick up
their panels and trim because it is not as cost effective
for us to ship small, made-to-length orders to them. This
factor limits the scope of our operation, so we are concentrating
on roofing contractors close to home."
In addition to offering roof panels, BETCO can also supply
custom-cut siding panels and a variety of customized roof
trims.

Feimster at 1-800-654-7813.
The
Betco-Denmark Connection:
A Winning Combination
For
the most part, Western Europe has imposed very tight environmental
standards on pig producers -- and producers in Denmark are
no exception.
For example, they must
comply to a variety of restrictions on issues such as,
odor, fly control, waste and air emissions - and these
standards are checked and evaluated periodically.
As a consequence, BETCO
swine houses sold and erected in Denmark must conform
to the same high standards.
"That's no problem
for us", commented Mark Doyle, General Manager of
BETCO's International Division. "Pig production in
Denmark is more advanced than most other countries in
the world, so meeting their environmental standards simply
means we are meeting the same quality standards we impose
on our own buildings as a matter of course.
"In
fact, our houses beat the conventional Danish swine houses,
hands down."
The "Cowboy Stall",
which is what the Dane's call the BETCO swine house, is
an economical and efficient finishing unit housing pigs
from 45 to 220 lbs. The natural ventilation system in
the spring, summer and fall, along with the mechanical
ventilation system in winter, has produced pigs 7 to 12
days sooner, with 60% less energy consumption and 12%
better feed conversion than conventional Danish buildings.
"All in all, our
building can be purchased for less cost, uses less construction
time, less energy, gets better results, and generates
more profit", concludes Doyle. "That's a winning
combination - anywhere in the world - in any climate!"
Free
Building Giveaways
FREE
BUILDING AND CONVERSION UNITS GIVEAWAYS HIGHLIGHT TWO
TRADE SHOWS THIS FALL.
In
an unprecedented move that may be a first in the self-storage
industry, BETCO is giving away a 3,000 sq. ft. metal self-storage
building and 1,000 square feet of self-storage conversion
units.
But
wait, that's not all - as they say in those irritating
TV commercials. BETCO is not only kicking off this promotion
at the ISS Expo in New Orleans in October, but they are
repeating the Free Building Giveaway Program that was
so successful last year, at the TMSA Show in Dallas this
September.
ISS
Expo in New Orleans October 1-3.
At
the Inside Self-Storage Expo in New Orleans, October 1
-3, the FREE Building and Conversion Units Giveaway will
be two separate prizes given to two different attendees.
The free building is a 30' X 100', prepainted, metal structure
that includes exterior flush columns and header systems,
interior partitions, columns and roof beams, 3" high
standing seam roof, 20 rollup doors, gutters, downspouts,
engineered drawings, and all fasteners and sealants necessary
to erect the building.
The
conversion units will consist of ten, 10' X 10' storage
units, 10 rollup doors, interior interlocking partitions,
prepainted columns and headers, and protective overhead
wire mesh.
TMSA
Convention and Trade Show September 22-23.
The Free Building
Giveaway program was so successful at last year's show
in San Antonio, BETCO decided to do it again at this year's
show in Dallas.
The same specifications
that applied to last year's building apply this year,
and are the same as the building to be given away at the
ISS Expo in New Orleans.
There
will be drawings at both shows to determine the winners.
Only registered attendees will be eligible to win, so
if you're going to either show, sign up after you arrive
at the BETCO booths.
Sales
Reps Now Trained to Quote Jobs
An
idea, which originated within the sales force over a
year ago, has become a reality.
In
a move designed to increase BETCO's sales representatives'
ability to offer customers quicker and more complete
service, the company decided to train all sales reps
to estimate jobs themselves. In the past, all estimating
was done in-house at company headquarters.
"To
my knowledge, we are the only self-storage manufacturer
whose sales reps can now offer customers single-source,
one-stop consultation and answers on all phases of their
projects", remarked Terry Campbell, Eastern Region
Sales Manager and National Marketing Director.
"Now
our reps are not only trained to quote their own jobs,
but they can also originate drawings of our own building
designs as a part of the process.
"Ultimately, this
move assists our customers in two important ways: it dramatically
speeds up the quote process, and it makes our sales reps
more knowledgeable, and as a consequence, more valuable
to their customers."
Truck
Graphics Help Promote BETCO
If
you happen to be driving down the highway on your way home,
or on a weekend trip to the mountains or the beach, you
may see a "moving billboard" for BETCO.
That's
because a few of our delivery trucks now have a new look.
Covering the trailer containing the shipment load of BETCO
product is a 47 ft. long blue tarpaulin on both sides
of the truck showing graphics of a one-story self-storage
building and a headline that reads, "Another Shipment
of Quality BETCO Building Components On It's Way."
(see photo) If you happen to be behind one of our trucks,
you'll see basically the same message as well.
It's
an attempt to use BETCO trucks as "advertising"
space, delivering messages as well as product for the
company.
"Why
not?" remarked Terry Campbell, National Director
of Marketing. "These trucks are seen by thousands
of drivers on the highways. Why not use the trailer
space to promote BETCO?" Certainly, most drivers
are not potential BETCO customers, but they may know
someone who is. Besides, it builds company awareness
and that can't do anything but help us."
